FRSM-20K

Multiplication of Fraco Platforms in Montreal

Built on the site of the former Armstrong (floor tile manufacturing) plant in the Côte-des-Neiges / Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, the Westbury Montreal project is another example of the current trend to create urban neighborhoods. It is less than 15 minutes from any major destination, and close to three major revitalization axes that will see the light of day in the coming years. The construction of the first two buildings at one point monopolized 16 FRSM-20K work platforms manufactured by Fraco.

Initiated by real estate developer Devmont (Montreal, QC), a builder who is not new to the neighborhood, the WESTBURY MONTRÉAL project will have eight residential and commercial towers, consisting of six residential buildings of 10 to 12 floors, a tower of 12-story offices and a 250-room Hilton hotel. The construction of phases 1 and 2, 11-storey towers, began in November 2017.

While the work of the first two buildings was progressing rapidly, Les Structures Danaco (Laval, QC), one of the largest rental companies of mast climbing work platforms in the metropolitan area, was given the mandate to install the platforms to be used to realize exterior finishing works. In early April 2019, Danaco installed Fraco's first FRSM-20K unit on Phase 1 of the project. The first two phases were built simultaneously, some 16 platforms were active at the end of summer 2019.

Since the façades of all buildings will be made of brick, the choice of work platforms has naturally moved to the Fraco FRSM-20K model. This easy-to-use platform is characterized by a load capacity of 4535 kg (10000 lbs) in single mast configuration, the configuration that has been favored on this project because of the architecture of the buildings themselves. In order to maximize platform efficiency and worker productivity, eight Fraco FRH-4000 portable lifting devices were used and allowed a fluid supply of materials on the platforms. As the FRSM-20K platform has been proven for a long time, no major disruption has been reported.

Phases 3 and 4 are currently under construction. The project should be fully completed by 2022.
